A lot of you haven’t been out to any of my shows for a good while now, and if you could make it out, I’d really appreciate your support of my new auditory gARTw3rkage. The other artists on this bill are no slouches either, and R_Garcia’s comin’ out of tha ATL schmokin’ hot these days. No doubt, it will be a “warm” one to say the least with a special surprise sesh at the end of the evening. It’s kind of earlier event as well, only running from like 9 – 12, so you’ll be home and in bed at a totally respectable hour for all you early risers’.

alGARhythm: One of Central Florida’s best kept secrets. Tucked away in his secret laboratory somewhere in the wetlands of Volusia county, this digital shamen will bring the ruckus as he performs his special brand of electronic rock and roll for your eyes and ears. Multiple drum machines, circuit bent toys, and an array of samplers are his weapons. Your brain stem, his target.

Pan/Dos: The end of tv as we know it. Pan/Dos combines the analogue hardware of yore into a chaotic, yet melodic soup of sight and sound, using VHS and TV Tubes as the ingredients. Must be seen to be believed.

Dr.XnLb: This is what happens when a certified code ninja slices his way into the music scene. By touching his mac in its naughty places, he can tease beats into a digital tapestry of circular logic and musical run on sentences with more segues than Dean Kamen. Also, pancakes.

DJ [HexWarrior]: This host of WPRK’s Talk Nerdy To Me and founder of the Nerdapalooza music festival will start the night off right with his own mix of Nerdcore, Chiptunes, Wizard Rock, and other genres so geeky, they make Woz himself blush.

PAINTERS showing w3rk:

Brice Stephens -  He’s pretty well known in the Central Florida for his contemporary paintings of women on glass, mostly windows.  Brice has had shows in many of the Orlando galleries and music venues.  IMO, this kat creates some super stellar w3rk.  Uber stylized sublime genius paintings.  Done with a touch and subtle flare which is all his own.  Elegant in some ways yet, as primal as the stars in others.  The beautiful and the ugly hold hands, celebrate.. commiserate. Acorns make oak trees. Girls become women. Brice confirms these very ideas with his delicately pure bristle and intricate sightISMs. We are happy as clams to have his w3rk in Deland at Caffe daVinci and in an Avant GARism production.

Cordelia Ryan – This painter is a long time friend of mine and bursting at the seems with drive and devotion to living a life as a true artist.  She’s been painting about 10 years, and recently returned from living in Portland, OR.  Her style is mostly abstraKted with plenty of visually attractive color schemes, forms, shapes and rhythms. Very energetic expressive w3rk..  ala Lee Krasner, DeKooning, Pollock, etc.   I’m stoked to be doing an event with Cordelia, and looking forward in helping to inform the local, general public about her many varied and honest talents with pigment, brush, & surface.

Gar Bailey – Guilty as charged and back in the saddle.  Ya’ll know how I do it.  I give, bring, express, explore, and expose it all.  Every ounce of me.  Every molecule of the blood in my heart.  Every bead of sweet that my skin makes.  Every breath in my lungs.  The electricity in my brain fires the pistons in my engine arms.  Organically charged chemical fires blanket MY earth with cosmically infused enlightenment experiments.

Sleeping in the swamp of myself.  Swimming in the bog.  Flying in the fog.  I’m a Gar-Fish with Alligator eYes and an Osprey’s heART.  A primordial soup stirs my spoon.  Standing at the dawn of creation. Staring into the Sun of the Stars where ideas come from.  The place where nowhere meets somewhere.

I’ll be armed with a totally new set, new vibe, new songs, fresh gear, a new video montage running through my projeKtor, and a pile of ingenuity for your voyeuristic electronique rock n’ rizoll pleasures and palpitations.

A_Scissors -  Symphonic Drum Machine Synthesizer Synchronization as a conduit for communication and transformation.  Cohesiveness of aesthetic. Like cheetah speed camoflauge. A liquid mirage. Like a soft child on a hard Earth..
Auditory bliss makes friends with the ratatat-tat-tick-tock-boom-click.  Metaphoria electro-caffinates and inflates the imagination of artistic cohabitation. Orchestrated, Analog “MueZeek” made for people & by a person, and made with a vulnerability & musical touch that one could describe as a “delicacy for the ear”.

Mr. Whitefolk - Subversive IDM music from the state that shaped like a phallus. This is a socially infused, sexually conscious, & politically charged electronic project by: Nigel John of Orlando, FL ; aka Dirty Politick aka NIgel ManPerson. Many of the recordings from this project in particular seem to take a sort of ambiguous approach towards dissecting and reassembling popular culture stereotypes & taboo’s.  If you think album sounds good,  wait till you hear him play and remix it all live.  *Speaking of which, get over to my NEW label, Hairy Sloth Records, and download the alGARhythm, A_Scissors, & Mr. Whitefolk EP’s for FREE right now.

Pan/Dos – This guy has found a way to legitimately combine TV, VHS, & Software into one of the most original and potent audio/video acts you will see.  There’s some glitch, some IDM, some Dance elements, some Punk Rock DIY aesthetic in there.  Tis some pretty well rounded music/video/aRt.  We’re over the moon to have Pan/Dos back again for an AG production.  This kat’s always a crowd favorite and bound to get folks talking and mind’s reeling.  You can also catch Pan/Dos in Orlando at BBQ Bar on Tuesday December 16th, 2008.  Followed by an A_Scissors & alGARhythm show at BBQ Bar on January 13th, 2009.

..My very own vehicle to promote the musical arts has arrived!:

 Hairy Sloth Records is my own fresh take on musical distribution and propagation.  My own music label to do what, when, with, & whom I please.  I’m wanting Hairy Sloth to be an innovative multi-media destination for artists and by artists, but also for all of the underground art/music lovers from around the w3rld.  And besides cataloging and sharing my own musical output through HSR.  I am also devoted to shining lights where they need to be shone.  There’s too many great talents out there withering away from the lack of light.  The absence of support.  The absence of an audience.  An artist as an empty hole where there should be a tree. In that regard, I have become a farmer of artists.  And I’m here to grow a small forest.

Hairy Sloth Records won’t be able to save the world, or to save Florida even.  But for whatever it’s worth, we will damn sure take a shot at saving a few gifted musicians from a life of underutilized potential.   I want to enhance the ability of a few talented individuals to spread their wings.  Hopefully give them an accessible platform to explore the idea of making records with actual destinations.  And with the earnest ideal, of making those albums on their own terms and of their own volition.

In further good news.. All of the MP3s on Hairy Sloth are currently offered for free, with an option for folks to donate if they choose.  More specifically but w/o going into too many specifics, any donations will then be used to first, pay the web hosting fees.. after which all immediate funds will be put into pressing CD’s, and eventually Vinyl and DVD.  The proceeds of which, or the actual merch itself, will then be split evenly between the artist and the label.  This is the basic idea of how the label will work.  Trying to keep it as simple as possible.  For the time being, we are more than happy just to have a place of our own to offer up our musical babies in the MP3 format.  -High quality 320k Mp3s which are licensed through the Creative Commons Acts.

Also, I still do plan on working with Polyvibe Records in varied capacities. One of them being to promote past and future recordings on that label.  Polyvibe did and does great w3rk.  (My 2nd album/CD, “Reinventing The Orange“, is still available for 6$ on P-vibe for those who may have missed it the first go round.)  But as far as me being an artist with the kind of output and idealism that I do, and the amount of artists out there with no viable means of releasing their work.  I just felt it was time to take it to the next step, and take true control my own destiny.  And thus we have, and I’ll say & link it again:

  He’s also one of the few cats that I know personally, who truly pushes me to take my own drum machine aRt and explorations to the next level.  Look for some new alGARhythm tracks to go up later this Summer, but in the mean time mosey on over to Mr. Scissors’s page, and be one of the first to DL and listen to the revolutional evolutionalz for yerself.   His tunes are so beautifully bangin’ that I had to spread the good w3rd.

This event was held at the Volusia county, omni-venue known as Caffe da Vinci aka the Tongue and Groove Gallery.  And though there were definately a few missing faces of some of my friends and associates, whom I thought eYe may see at this most illmatic of occasions.  (You know who you are.)   The overall feeling at the end of the night, was one of success, accomplishment, comradery, and of a wonderful occasion.
*There were any where from about 75 – 120 people milling about through out the evening.  Many of them, some of my favorite people on Earth.
*I am already receiving offers from people & collectors looking to purchase some of my w3rk.  Which feels just swell as hell. 
*Also, all the muscial performances on Saturday evening, including my own, were fantabulous shooting stars of the Summer night.  A_Scissors was on point as ever.  Bent Lee, Michael McNabb, and many other from the Four4ths vinyl crew repreZented hardcore for yer boy, and really helped push the whole celebration to the next the level. 

I would like to take this time and space to specifically thank a few individuals for their efforts, support, and/or their friendship:

-> First off, I have to thank my wife, MinkinAce for her unwaivering support of  everything that I have choose to explore & express in last 20 sum odd years.  Without her eternal love, patience, and omni-support.. -the Gar Bailey that many of you know and love, simply would not exist.  Neither would much of my w3rk.
*Dana – you are my heaRt giRl.  You’re the softest thing I have ever touched.  I will see you in the hallway baby.
