New Paintings / WIPs – “Liquid Creatures, Shapes, N’ ObjeKts” Series

So some of you know I’ve been hard at w3rk trying to finish my 4th alGARhythm album and have it out by the end of April on HSR. Well, for the sake of musical perspective and clarity, I recently decided to take a 1 -2 weeks break from the recording process, and am spending much of that time painting this new series of about 15 – 25 small to medium sized paintings. Entitled: “The Liquid Creatures, Shapes, + ObjeKts Series“. They are of the more hurriedly created variety of imagery, but do not mistake my haste with lack of quality. I’ve learned over the years how to w3rk long term and short term, both to successful effect. There’s are advantages and disadvantages to both methods of painting, n’ I’ve had an explosion of pigment waiting to burst out of me for a while now.. Nothing’s guaranteed but I’m feeling real good about this new series of paintings, and just to be painting again period after a few months away from it has been accelerating my creativity glands and I think in turn it’ll actually help invigorate me when I jump back onto finishing my album in a week or two as well.

Here’s the other fabulous news!… In an effort to get my gART on to the walls of more of my friends and fans, I am going to be selling atleast 90% of this collection of w3rks and they are all going to be priced to sell. And I mean seriously priced to sell. It’s just a guesstimate but I’m going to try and keep all prices $100 or less and some of the smaller paintings may be as low as $20!! So for those of you who’ve always wanted a killer piece of gARTw3rk but never thought you could afford it. THIS IS GOING TO BE YOUR LUCKY DAY.. in a 1 – 3 weeks that is. I doubt that they’ll be a sale of gARTw3rks of this magnitude again anytime soon, if ever. So just as soon as the entire series of 15 – 25 w3rks are all completed. They’ll be going up onto a webpage with prices lower than sin. Keep yer radars on, and I’ll let cha’s know just as soon as tis all ready. First come first serve, and even though all the paintings prices will be low, it all will be negotiable even. These paintings want/need to be on all of your walls.

Below are some photo’s to show you’s how things are looking so far, please keep in mind that none of these are 100% finished, but some are close enough to give you all the idea what the w3rk is looking like so far. After a very long night drafting, mixing, pontificating, and slinging’ some coloured pigment like skimboarder’s on mushrooms.

Prince Rama, sometimes known as “Prince Rama Of Ayodhya”, are a 3 member psychoactive, musical project who currently hail from Brooklyn, NY. They have previously spent time in Boston going to art school, and then England working with n’ learning from the likes of the modern day uber duper astronautical explorer n’ master painter: Paul Laffoley. And oddly enough for me, some or all of the P-Rama outfit originally hail from somewhere in, none other than the psychedelic training grounds that eYe grew up in & is commonly refered to as: “Florida”. -Land of the magical cow pattie. (See folks, the F-L does produce transcendent philosophical explorers n’ brilliant artists. It sadly just doesn’t nurture them much while they’re here.)

Anywayz, There’s plenty more to learn about Prince Rama and their mandala makin’ mentor: Mr. Paul Laffoley by following the links above and diggin’ around on the interwebs. I believe the track in the video, which is titled: “Om Namo Shivaya” is off of their 4th studio album “Shadow Temple”, and IMO they’ve still got a lil wayz to go as band, atleast on the production and percussion tips, but with videos and tracks like this coalescing into one insanely gorgeous bit of existential, psychedelic transcendence.. the sky’s not even the limit.

That 4th studio album was good enough to grab the attention of the CEO’s of the current aRt rawk movement, Animal Collective, who’ve released it on their uber important indie imprint: “Paw Tracks”. Not too shabby Prince Rama. I’m def feelin’ it, and you’ve definitely got a fan in me.

This song and video ain’t no accident either “Fly-Lo” has been tweaking and morphing different musical genre’s for quite a few years now in this new millennial era, and the 2 people behind this video: Campbell Hooper and Joel Kefali – over at: www.specialproblems.com. Memorial Day.. retrospections

Being intro/retrospective today.. Thinking of all the Veterans.. past, present, and future. My Grandfather, Father-In-Law, Uncles, Cousins, Friends, and millions of whom I have no relation to.. other than that we are all brothers and sisters of the Human race. I am extremely thankful and proud off these brave soldiers for their service, sacrifice, and extreme courage, but I am simultaneously saddened by the unmitigated suffering and deaths that so many of them have had to endure, often times unnecessarily. Wondering will there ever come a day in the future when we can look back at “WAR” itself as an abolition and a monumental error in the fabric of our human existence here on earth? Is War & Violence just something that’s in our nature and something that we’ll have to live with forever? On this day I also wonder, which will go extinct first.. War or Human Beings? -because it almost seems like it’s got to eventually be one or the other. Regardless of any of that though, I’m thankful that there are folks who are out there protecting me and my family, because lord knows I wouldn’t want to pick up a gun. I just hope there come a day when there won’t be a need for them to do it anymore. I hope there comes a day when human beings evolve to live in true harmony with each other and when, as a wiser than me once said.. “The world can live as one”.

This an amazing piece of A/V exploration & reconfiguration at it’s finest. Where a special young artist called: “Pogo” turns his Mother, her “Garden”, House, and her voice into spectacularly potent contemporary art.

Pogo is an emerging, young electronic music artist from Perth, Western Australia. Equal Parts Programmer, Producer, ReMixer, Mash-Up king, VJ, and Visionary. He is known for his work recording small sounds from a single film or scene and sequencing them to form new pieces of music altogether, many of which have accompanying videos which correlate with the sounds/samples. Creating wonderfully concise and colourful reflections of contemporary technological world culture.

While also, engaging the viewer/listener to think about intellectual “property”, and what/who determines the “tools” that modern day artists are permitted to use in creation of contemporary aRtw3rks. Much in the same way pioneers of similar artforms, such as: Negativland, The Avalanches, Girl Talk, and a few others have done in years past. And at a mere 21 years of age, Pogo is an incredible mature and aware artist who appears to have a very bright future ahead of him. Good for him and good for the w3rld!

One of my favorite painters living in FL, Francesco LoCastro, recently painted a large mural of one of FL’s most original, auditory artisans, Otto Von Schirach, on a wall in Wynwood, Miami.
